Hydrogenated resin, amber, woody

Hercolyn D

Hercolyn D resin, a methyl ester of hydrogenated rosin, is a light amber liquid resinous tackifier and plasticizer. Being hydrogenated, it has marked resistance to aging.

Key properties

Hercolyn D resin is given a special steam purification treatment to assure consistent mild odor. Hercolyn D resin is used extensively in fragrance compounds, where it functions as a fixative, carrier, and compatibilizer, and in the formulation of chewing gum base.

It is also used as a resinous plasticizer or tackifier in finished products such as lacquers, inks, adhesives, floor tiles, artificial leather, and antifouling paints.

Applications & olfactory families

  • Carrier and fixative in fragrance compounds
  • Component in chewing gum base to adjust hardness, plasticity, and chew characteristics
  • Resin component in adhesives, inks, floor tiles, vinyl plastics, rubber compositions, and related applications
