Amber, woody

Abalyn

Abalyn methyl ester of wood rosin is an amber-colored, near neutral, tacky, viscous liquid.

Key properties

These physical properties, plus its wide compatibility, make it useful in a variety of applications, including lacquers, inks, paper coatings, varnishes, adhesives, sealing compounds, plastics, and wood preservatives.

Abalyn resin retains the reactive double bonds of rosin, which may be an advantage or a drawback, depending upon application conditions.

For a methyl ester that has been stabilized against oxidation at these reactive sites by hydrogenation, Hercolyn D resin is recommended.
